"wunderwagen wants a longer roof" (wunderwagen)

So according to the ever wise Ohio BMV, I have to have a front plate. The problem is that my Dart doesn't have a mount since it was originally sold in Michigan. There is an ugly, plastic-fantastic OEM one that is about $30. I do not want it. My preference is one mounting to the tow hook stud or one using existing mount/screw points. The only problem is that the cheapest start at $60 on Amazon and I refuse to drill the bumper for a cheaper/crappier solution. Any help or recommendations would be appreciated. My buddy said get a custom aluminum(or stainless steel) one made by a local metal fab shop, but neither of us know of any.
Have a GRC Dart for your time.
PS: I love the livery on this.

I used to just wedge mine between the dash and windshield with some foam. whether or not that's legal, IDK. But I did once get pulled over for not having a front plate, but when the Officer saw it in the windshield he just said "oh I thought you didn't have a front plate, you can go." he even apologized for the inconvenience. So i guess not all cops suck. hahaha

I've been told to do that but I don't want a license plate getting wedged in my forehead if the worst were to happen. That and I'm moving to an area where the city police are giant assholes.
I got pulled over for speeding a couple of weeks ago, drove away without a ticket when I should've gotten one. Thank the driving gods that I know half the cops in the city I grew up in, and they watched me grow up. Once he saw who I was, asked how mom and I has been since my dad passed and then let me go on my merry way.

I did worry a bit about catching a rectangular metal Frisbee with my face lol.

I've been told that putting it on the dash is technically illegal, but it depends on the individual cop as to whether or not they'll care

I've seen some snap-on plate mounts that go into grille openings but that may restrict airflow. Zip ties are cheap and easily hidden, though...

Just keep the plate in your car. If and when you get pulled over just show it to the officer and say the bracket has been ordered.

Get yourself a cracked/broken plate holder from a local junkyard and keep it in the car along with your second plate. If you get pulled over, point at the broken plate holder and say "the damnedest thing just happened in the Whole Foods parking lot..."

Genius, but I don't think it will fly. I'm probably gonna bite the bullet and drop the $60-$70 after a couple weeks.

I've thought about it, but the cops in the area I will soon be living are giant dicks.

Thought about zip ties but I don't particularly want to run the risk of losing the plate to deteriorated zip ties. Good idea though, neither myself or friend thought of that.

if you buy good zip ties and use 4 you should be good.
I got pulled over once for no front plate (WI) because it had fallen off. Two weeks later a county sheriff found it on the side of the road next to a road sign someone had knocked down. They thought I did it until they saw no damage to the car.

Looks like it's time to suck it up and put two holes in your bumper. I had to when I moved here to New Hampshire.

Kill me. I'll get the OEM mount first.
